NEW YORK, NY – September 23, 2010 – The inaugural gala concert of the 4th edition of the International Symposium “New Voices on Primo Levi” will feature the US premiere of Andrea Liberovici’s multimedia piece The Transparency of the Word, Cantata for Primo Levi. Montreal’s Nouvel Ensemble Moderne directed by Lorraine Vaillancourt will perform the piece, which premiered to critical acclaim at the Teatro Regio in Turin on what would have been Levi’s 90th anniversary. October 26 at 8:00 pm at the Asia Society, 725 Park Avenue, NYC.

Andrea Liberovici is an eclectic composer/director whose international collaborations range from the poet Eduardo Sanguineti to the filmmaker Peter Greenway. His work explores the connections between music (acoustic, electronic and concrete) and the grammar of visual media.

The Nouvel Ensemble Moderne (NEM), based in Montreal, Canada, is one of the world’s premier contemporary classical music groups. Founded by Lorraine Vaillancourt, the ensemble’s conductor and pianist, last year NEM celebrated its 20th anniversary.
